Are you ready to tackle Scotland’s most iconic trail?!

Hike, bike and canoe into the wild and unspoiled landscapes of the West Highland Way on our 10 Day, Women Only Adventure in Scotland!

This 154 km trek through the Scottish Highlands is one of the best hiking experiences we have ever had (Colca Canyon in Peru is a second close!). What we love the most about the WHW is how the scenery constantly changes, taking you through the fairytale-like woodlands, scenic loch sides, old military roads and lovely Scottlish countyside. This epic hike spans from Glasgow’s outskirts, through Loch Lomond, across the wild Rannoch Moor, dramatic Glencoe and the Devil’s Staircase before finishing in Fort William, at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis (which obviously,we will also tackle!).This spectacular walk is the adventure of a lifetime.

You’ll experience authentic Scotland first hand with its unique and ever-changing landscapes, rocky coastlines, tranquil lochs, forests, valleys and secluded mountains. Your adventure will be the perfect blend of spectacular views, fascinating stories, amazing food, challenging hikes, tones of new experiences and an amazing company of inspiring woman from around the world! We have so many activities packed into this trip that we are beyond excited to take you on this on this ultimate adventure in some of the Europe’s most remote wilderness!

Fitness Level

West Highland Way is long and challenging but it is not a technically difficult walk. There is definitely a lot of walking and some climbing, though nothing lengthy or overly steep.

But as with any multiday hike it present a challenge, and therefore should not be underestimated. We will be doing from 22 to 32 km per day so you should definitely be rather fit and work on your stamina before, hit the gym and do some hikes before the trip. But fear not, with a bit of preparation (we will send you some great tips, along with packing list),you can do this!

As the WHW goes through very remote parts of Scotland, accommodation is very limited. This is the one of our trips which is most likely to change. Sometimes we will have to adjust the itinerary slightly but we will still have all the fun, just maybe in a different order, that is all.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Welcome to Scotland!

Welcome to Edinburgh, one of the world’s most beautiful cities! While we wait for the rest of the girls to arrive, we will spend the early afternoon settling in and chilling with a wee dram of whisky, or two.

Edinburgh’s beauty is both staggering and inimitable. This is a place that actually looks like it’s stepped out of the pages of a fairytale, with its higgledy-piggledy Old Town, the Castle set up on ancient volcanic rock right in the middle of the city, and its medieval charming maze of little cobbled alleys.

Once everyone have arrived, we will explore the city together. Edinburgh is a city of grand outlooks, and one of the best perspectives can be gained from the top of Calton Hill. It’s a short, steep climb to the summit, rewarding you with stunning views across the city.It is also our favourite place in town!

We will then explore the famous Royal Mile and its surroudtings, passing some iconic landmarks as well as many well hidden local gems. Old Town is the Edinburgh of your imagination: cobbled streets, higgledy-piggledy houses, dark passages and more shops selling the holy trinity of cashmere, kilts and whisky than you can possibly imagine!

After exploring the Old Town,we will walk through the picturesque Victoria Street to the buzzing Grassmarket, an old cattle market that once upon a time was home to Edinburgh’s public executions, but is now lined with traditional pubs, pavement cafes and restaurants. This is where we will have our welcome dinner and lots of whisky to celebrate a wonderful adventure ahead!

  • Please try and arrive in Edinburgh before 2pm on Day 1
  • Food Included: Welcome Dinner

Day 2:The Journey Begins

After the hearty Scottish breakfast we will take a short train ride towards Milngavie, the official starting point of West Highland Way.We’ll drop off our bags, stock up on last minute supplies and hop on a mountain bike to tackle our first part of this epic journey! But don’t worry,we’ve chosen the most flat part of the journey so we will all manage! Although starting close to Glasgow, we will be quickly riding through open countryside with beautiful lochs and rivers along the way.We will have a break and lunch at Drymen, leave our bikes behind and continue our journey hiking, starting by climbing the Conic Hill. Though just 361m high, it offers spectacular(truly!) views over Loch Lomond and the islands. Reaching the eastern banks of Loch Lomond at Balmaha,we will have a well deserved rest at this charming village.

  • Food Included: Breakfast & Packed Lunch
  • Walk Details: 31km(Bike&Hike)

Day 3: The Wild Shoreline of Loch Lomond

After breakfast in our B&B, we will follow the Loch Lomond shore through the forest until we reach the tranquil setting of Rowardennan, which is nestled at the foot of Ben Lomond.

This is a challenging stage but the combination of differing terrain, scenery and views make it very rewarding. Rougher terrain means that the going is slower but it’s wonderful to be in such wild country. The trail improves towards the end of the day as we near our next destination, the tiny settlement of Inversnaid, right in the middle of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.If you did not have enough for the day,it is a perfect place for scenic walks!

  • Food Included: Breakfast & Packed Lunch
  • Walk Details: 22km

Day 4:Into the Wild

The challenge continuous as the first part of the hike day today is considered as one of the most difficult ones.

From Inversnaid the going underfoot is quite challenging so we will be just scrambling along and up and down as necessary. The views along Loch Lomond side are lovely though and make our struggle worthwhile.Having immersed yourself in the surrounds of Loch Lomond, in the middle of the hike we will enter a completely different landscape. One of soaring mountains and gentle glen walking.

We will be very happy to reach Crianlarich, where we will crash for the night, after what felt like a very long day.And congratulations, you have now reached the middle of your epic hike!

  • Food Included: Breakfast
  • Walk Details: 22km

Day 5:From Crianlarich to Bridge of Orchy 21km

  • Today’s walking is definitely way more relaxed and filled with spectacular Highlands views. We won’t climb high but stay beneath lofty summits, alongside tranquil lochs. Seeing is truly believing in this stunning high-level landscape. We will stop for lunch midway for one of the best Fish and Chips you will ever taste and spend the night in lovely, wild surroundings of the Bridge of Orchy!
  • Food Included: Breakfast and Lunch
  • Walk Details: 22km

Day 6:Rannoch Moor and Glencoe!

  • Today is our favourite (although very long) section of the trail with fabulous views of the mountains! The most dazzling part of this stretch is the starkly beautiful landscape of Rannoch Moor-one of the wildest and most remote parts of Europe. It’s simply gorgeous! Today WHW also climbs to its highest point, above the Devil’s Staircase. One of the best views of the whole route comes when you reach the top of the staircase and gaze at the fabulous views of Glencoe from here.No wonder that Glencoe has attracted so many filmmakers to use its stunning, dramatic scenery. Braveheart, Rob Roy, Skyfall, Outlander, Harry Potter, were all filmed here! We will show you the exact movie locations where your favourite movie scenes were shot.We will end the day at lovely glamping pods of Kinlochleven, where we will stay for the next two nights.
  • Food Included: Breakfast & Packed Lunch
  • Walk Details: 33km

Day 7:Relax & Ice Climb at Kinlochleven

  • Today we will all have our well deserved chill day!! You can do whatever you want, simply relax or explore the beautiful area around. Of course,we relax best when active so in the afternoon we will have a go at the world’s highest wall to try Ice Climbing and then have a bonfire dinner under the stars!!
  • Food Included: Breakfast & Dinner(Bonfire)
  • Walk Details: 0 km

Day 8: Trail’s End at Fort William

The final stage of our hike from Kinlochleven to Fort William brings another waterfall gem. A short detour will take us to stunning Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall.

The way continues through forestry plantations while Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, comes into view. But we will leave it for tomorrow😊

The trail then descends into beautiful Glen Nevis and then into Fort William itself where we finally reach the finish of the West Highland Way- we’ve done it! Congratulations, you have just completed the 154km West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William! We will make our way into the centre of town for the obligatory photo opportunity with the bronze statue of a fellow walker marking the end of the trail and after checking into our accommodation and freshening up, we’ll celebrate with a wee dram at the whisky distillery and have our well deserved, celebratory dinner.

  • Food Included: Breakfast & Dinner
  • Walk Details: 25 km

Day 9:Climb Ben Nevis

After a leisurely breakfast, we will climb that mountain! Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK so it would just feel wrong to be right at the bottom of it and not climb it!It is actually not that high (1345m) and definitely worth the hike and we should be done in 6-7h up and down.We will have a lunch break on the top and head back to Edinburgh in the afternoon through one of the Scotland’s most scenic routes.

  • Please note that if this feels like too much, you can just relax in Fort William!!We promise we won’t judge😊
  • Food Included: Breakfast& Packed Lunch
  • Walk Details: Ben Nevis (1345m)
